Welsh Doubles Champions!
Huge congratulations to Andrew Hudson and Jonathan Gladstone (Hook) on winning the Welsh National Doubles competition played at Llandrindod Wells on Saturday 7th March 2020. They beat Ben Jackson and Luke Haddon (West Glamorgan) by just one shot in the final. Congratulations also to Chris Holder and Peter Norman (Hook) and James John-Davies and Sean Hughes (The Meads) who all did Pembrokeshire proud getting to the semi-final. New Year Champions!
Happy new year to you all, and what a way to start 2020 for Pembrokeshire! The county team traveled to Llandrindod Wells on the weekend of 4th-5th January to battle it out once more in the Welsh county competition. Seven counties competed over the two days, with each county team made up of five rinks. While there were some very close games, Pembrokeshire, captained by Rhydian Rees (Tavernspite), beat all six counties (Brecon & Radnor, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Montgomery, Swansea and West Glamorgan) to win the title once again of Welsh County Champions. Pembrokeshire will now go on to represent Wales in the Inter-County Championship in December. This year's competition will be hosted by the winners of the English county competition. Youth Singles

What a weekend!
Huge congratulations to the Pembrokshire squad who became the first team in Wales to win the Inter-County Championship since the start of the competition in 1995. There were some really close games and it may have come down to the last bowl, in the last game, but we did it! A big thank you to all of the players for their efforts, and also to the umpires for giving up their weekend to officiate. Thank you to the markers for marking singles games and to Tracy for doing a great job as our team photographer! Thank you also to Shirley and Lesley for organising the event and running the raffle and to Julie and Tom for doing the scores and the admin during the weekend. The runners up were Paul Hudson, Robert Hughes, Jonathan Gladstone and Andrew Hudson (Hook). In third place were Tomos Evans, Ryan Thomas, Alan Evans and Andrew Evans (Tavernspite) and in fourth place were Mark Thorpe, Haydn John-Davies, James John-Davies and Sean Hughes (The Meads). On Sunday 15th September 2019 Iron Man Wales was not the only competition happening in Tenby! Many bowlers from around the county took part in the first competition of the year - the County and Red Card singles. After an early start to avoid road closures, congratulations go to the winner Alan Evans (Tavernspite) who beat runner up James John-Davies (The Meads) in the final. Congratulations also to Mark Thorpe (The Meads) - winner of the Plate competition.    |
Under 21s News...
Congratulations to Chloe Thomas and Rhys O’Mara from Pembrokeshire, who recently traveled to Tamworth where they represented Wales in the under 21 international against England. Unfortunately Wales lost but Chloe and Rhys gave good accounts of themselves. Well done both!

National Talent...
Well done to Chris John and Mikey John (Tavernspite) who were runners up in the National Pairs competition played at Llandrindod Wells on Saturday 2nd March, and to Mark Thorpe, James John-Davies and Sean Hughes (The Meads) who were runners up in the National Triples on March 3rd.
And a HUGE congratulations to Paul Hudson, Jonathan Gladstone and Andrew Hudson (Hook) on becoming National Triples CHAMPIONS, who will go on to represent Wales in the triples in the British Isles Championship in November.

The winners were Aled Humphreys, Jac Edwards and Andy Jones from Montgomery, with Chris Holder, Robert Hughes and Martyn Davies from Hook Bowls Club in second place. Well done also to Mandy Cresswell, Chris Gilley and Mark Taylor from East Williamston, who finished in third place. The results can be found on the file attached below.
